Coronavirus (Covid-19) Update

As the situation surrounding the Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak continues to evolve here in Idaho and around the world, we want you to know that both the US and Kenya teams are monitoring the decisions and recommendations made by our governments and the CDC.

Kenya has recently reported its first positive cases and its government is being very proactive in setting up testing stations in all regions and ramping up their hospital preparations. The government closed its borders early in February to some infected countries and has now closed borders to all people entering from any country where Covid-19 has been reported. Kenyan citizens or permanent residents who travel to Kenya are to self-quarantine upon arrival. They are also not allowing any groups to meet and have closed all schools and universities. This remains in effect for 30 days unless otherwise advised. Therefore, the Expansion International Africa Board and staff are evaluating their work schedules and will be making decisions based upon the best possible approach to conducting day-to-day operations that will ensure the safety and health of all.

As you know, the US and Idaho governments have also put these same recommendations and restrictions in place and are asking people to stay home and not hold gatherings. Based on the current situation with Covid-19 we have taken the following steps to insure we are being pro-active and following the CDC and Kenya government guidelines to keep our employees, friends and family safe.

EXPANSION INTERNATIONAL OFFICE

We are doing our part to help limit the spread of disease in order to protect the most vulnerable in our community. For this reason, our staff both in the U.S. and in Kenya will be working remotely for their health and safety. If you need to get a hold of us, you can do so by reaching out via email at info@expansioninternational.org. Thank you for helping us be good members of our community.

BUILD HOPE DINNER - POSTPONED

Due to new community event guidelines, we are postponing our annual Build Hope Dinner originally scheduled for April 25th. We will update you with a new date in the coming weeks once the details are solidified.

For those who have already purchased a ticket or sponsored a table, we will honor your purchase and transfer it to the new event. If you are unable to attend, we will refund your purchase. Thanks for your understanding.

STUDENT LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE - POSTPONED

Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19), all schools and universities are closed in Kenya and they are not allowing any community gatherings for the next 30 days. Therefore, we plan on rescheduling the Student Leadership Conference that was set to take place April 16th through April 19th. We will let you know once we have those details solidified.

In the meantime, if you have any questions, please email our Programs Coordinator, Denice Wade at denice.expansion@gmail.com. Thank you for all you do for these students and their futures. We appreciate you!

As we face these unprecedented times we want to encourage all to continue to focus on our Lord God who is with us. Only He can keep us in perfect peace.

"You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock."   Isaiah 26:3-4

May the Lord bless and keep you well.

Executive Committee, Expansion International
